International Legal English (ILE) Course
English has now become the lingua franca of the Law industry due to the rapid internationalisation of the industry and the need for a common language to communicate efficiently and effectively. International Legal English is the language of the legal profession and therefore it is an essential skill that all aspiring international legal professionals must acquire.
International Legal English at MLC
The International Legal English (ILE) course has been developed for both law students and lawyers who need to be able to use English in the legal profession. The ILE is for upper-intermediate to advanced-level learners and prepares candidates for the International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) examination that has been developed by Cambridge ESOL and TransLegal. If you do not wish to carry out the ILEC, this course provides a comprehensive and effective structure for learning International Legal English for anyone wanting to pursue an International career in law!

Aims of this course?
- To improve your ability to read and comprehend legal texts such as legal perodicals, legal texts, commercial legislation and other commerical-law documents
- To improve your ability to write common legal text types in English, such as letters of memoranda
- To increase your ability to understand spoken English when it is used to speak about legal topics in meetings, presentations, interviews, discussions, etc.
- To prepare you for the ILEC examination by familiarising you with the kind of taks that you will encounter in the ILEC examination and improve your performance on these tasks.
